Hlekweni graduates 136 students in 2007

The following main skills courses were carried out: Agriculture, Building, Early Childhood Education and Development, Carpentry, and Sewing and Garment Making. Plumbing and Drain-laying was successfully introduced. 136 students will have graduated in the 22-week courses by December. Of those, 62 graduated in June when the Governor of Matabeleland South, Mrs. A. Masuku was Guest of Honour and assured all present that Hlekweni was 'held in the highest esteem' by the government.

The December graduation saw 72 students receive their certificates from Mrs. M. Sandi, Chairperson of NANGO Zimbabwe who in turn offered to pay for a place for a needy student on the Early Childhood Course in perpetuity. 90 people benefited from one and two week constultancy training courses carried out in rural areas and at the centre.

HIV/Aids awareness workshops and testing sessions were held towards the end of the course and students actively participated.
