Eyes on Africa is based on the experiences of the author and his doctor wife in 12 countries of East, West, Central and Southern Africa. It covers 50 years of change from colonial rule to independence and the struggle against Apartheid. It includes interactions and observations on a few Heads of State and other leaders as well as peasant farmers. A wide range of issues including religion, AIDS, famine, trade and the lighter side of Africa are discussed. It should provide useful background reading for those who are concerned to make a positive contribution to African development.

Ronald Watts is an agriculturist by training and has had a Welsh hill farm as his home base since 1968. His career has included teaching animal science and extension but his main career has been in radio, television and press journalism. He has specialised both in journalism and research into the needs of small-scale farmers.
