we
are to have had Helen Jean Nelson's book, 150 Years in Review
of Clear Creek Families and Friends. This is an invaluable source
of information which was enhanced by the purchase, through eBay, of a letter
written by Joseph Mills in 1841 to friends back in PA from where
they had moved. Peter Lasersohn, Sharon Haworth's husband, found
the listing and John Heider actually purchased it. It turned out
to be written by John's great, great, great grandfather. It told about
the crops and the meeting stating that the first meetinghouse was under
construction. There were 62 members and a number of others who hold
much of friends principles.
Clear Creek's responsibility
for IYM was caring for the preschool children. Andrew Bud Wolf was
recognized for serving 54 years as trustee. Carol Bartles will replace
him on the board.
The first weekend in October
was the first IYM Men's Retreat including 4 Clear Creek Friends.
Clear Creek shared Worship and a potluck meal with these participants.
Following the meal Roxy Jacob's, IYM Field Secretary, led a beautiful workshop
on "Vocal Ministry in Worship." |
