Who are we?
The Atlanta Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends is
an unprogrammed, non-pastoral Quaker Meeting, gathered in the belief
that every person has the capacity to know the will of the Divine
directly, in continuing revelation, requiring neither a specific
liturgy nor the interpretation of an intermediary.
Because Friends believe that there is that of God in everyone, we
welcome each person, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, national
origin, age, sex, marital status, disability, religious beliefs,
sexual
orientation and gender identity (to name only the most obvious).
Our ongoing efforts to assure that Everyone
Is Welcome are also reflected in
our
public statement meeting minutes addressing equality,
race and gender identity.
In meeting for worship, we reflect together in silence, listening
for
the Divine to speak to us, unless someone feels led by the Spirit to
share a message aloud.
Meeting for Worship
Sundays, 10 am: Atlanta Friends Meeting, Meeting Room
701 West Howard Avenue, Decatur, Georgia 30030
(A second smaller group meets in the Library)
Children worship with adults for the first 15 minutes and
then attend religious education classes by age group.
The Atlanta Friends meetinghouse is a single level building
with step-less entries, providing easy access for wheelchairs,
strollers, and walkers.
