Eighteen QUIP members met October 2, 1999 at London Grove meetinghouse in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania under the shade of one of the few remaining William Penn Oaks.

2000 Annual Meeting: A draft agenda was approved and suggestions for resource people were made.

2001 Annual Meeting: This will be in April on the east coast at either Pendle Hill (near Philadelphia) or Woolman Hill (New England) as a second choice. The agenda is planned to consider in depth the whole question of book reviews and their place in our ministry.

Book of Miracles: George Fox's Book of Miracles is nearly ready for publication and final arrangements are being worked out, although copyright negotiations remain to be completed. It is possible that it will be published by the time of the 2000 annual meeting. A cooperative advertising plan is being worked on.

Promotion: The main activities have been maintenance of the Web site and author signings at the FGC Gathering. The latter encouraged us to plan a QUIP party at the next Gathering at which publishers will be able to promote new titles.

FWCC Triennial: QUIP will be present (July 22-29, Centerpoint NH) and co-ordinators for book sales were named. Publishers are encouraged to donate books for display, as well as distribution to Friends from third world countries who will attend.

Writers' Guide to QUIP Publishers: A version is now available in pdf format which can be provided on request to Bruce Hawkins. Publishers are encouraged to bring their pages up to date after which we will place a link to it on the Web site.

Memberships: At least six new memberships have been received, some individuals or private presses with no Quaker organizational affiliation. This raises questions about our constitution (statement of purpose) and identity as an organization. A subcommittee was appointed to circulate queries to the membership and report back.

QUIP Panel of North American Quaker Tapestry: Ruth Gallantino, artist for the design of the QUIP panel of the North American Quaker Tapestry, presented us with background information on the design. The partially completed panel was on display. We need people to help with its completion.

Electronic publishing: Richard Carey (Vitis Research www.vitis-ir.com or [email protected]) gave a brief overview of current options in electronic publishing. He also gave ideas for use of the CD version of George Fox's Journal he has published as a resource tool.
