Northampton Friends First Day School

Welcome to the online Kid's Corner of Northampton Friend's Meeting. We currently have four groups of children attending First Day School.

Schedule of First Day School
The children in the three younger groups have the option of being in child care from 9:30 to 11:00 every Sunday. On Business Meeting Sundays (second Sunday of the month), child care starts at 9:00. Then the kids attend Meeting for Worship for the first ten minutes (11:00 to 11:10). First Day School begins at 11:10. See the section below on Young Friends for their schedule.

Youngest Friends
This group is for babies and pre-Kindergarten-age children. Adults from the meeting take turns playing with the children, building with Legos, doing art projects, playing games, etc.

Very Young Friends
This group is for children ages five through seven. A curriculum appropriate for the age group is taught every week by a woman completely adored by the children. Lots of activities and fun are combined with the lessons.

Owls
This group is for children from first through sixth grade. Each week from September through May an adult from the Youth Concerns Committee teaches a lesson with a heavy emphasis on teching via enjoyable activity. Kids have interviewed other people in the meeting on various questions, written to the President on war issues, made a time line of Quaker history, and cooked in preparation for a meal to be served at the Interfaith Cot Shelter.

Young Friends

Young Friends (grades 7 to 12) from both Northampton and Mt. Toby meet from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for First Day School and then attend Meeting for Worship at 11:00 am.
