Announcements Urgent
Need for Delegation Participants: In the wake of the Wye Agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the demolition of the homes of Palestinian families by Israeli authorities continues. Over 2000 demolition orders are currently outstanding, and the agreement’s provision for more bypass roads to serve Israeli settlements endangers the security of an increasing number of Palestinian families. CPT-RAB delegations are being formed in response to these demolitions. Participants will assist in documenting the condition of families facing the demolitions of their homes or confiscation of their lands, challenge the policy through public witness, and help raise awareness of the issue in North American communities. Cost of the trip is $1700 US, which covers airfare from a designated North American city, simple accommodations, two meals a day, in-country travel and other delegation expenses. Participants should have interest or experience in international human rights work, a commitment to nonviolence, and a willingness to engage in public witness and to participate in daily team worship and reflection. They should be prepared to communicate their experiences to local churches and media upon return. Members of groups involved in CPT’s Campaign for Secure Dwellings, which matches North American churches, families and other groups with Palestinian families facing home demolitions, are especially encouraged to apply.
