FRIENDLY CIRCLE MINUTES

Present were Carol Bartles, Elizabeth Bumgarner, Kay Drake, Grayce
Mesner, Kris Simon, Betty Wolf
Next meeting: Sept. 8 - at Clear Creek Room at 1:30. ALL WHO WANT TO,
can meet for lunch at noon at Mary's Cafe in downtown McNabb!!
Possible book title ideas: (Other ideas are WELCOME!)
Growing Up in Clear Creek
Life as a Quaker Child in Clear Creek
Reflections on Quaker Life in Clear Creek Meeting
Looking Back Down Quaker Lane
Written so ages 9-12 can read, but would interest younger ages when being
read to.
Possible Scenario - Children are going through the Trunk on the Stage (as
opposed to an Attic) and finding items, pictures, etc. that bring up the
past.
The following categories (chapters?) were identified and those present
picked what they would work on for a preliminary gathering of information
for the next meeting. We thought perhaps the pages could be gathered
together in a 3-ring binder - so use 8 1/2 X 11 paper.
(Please let me know if you had different thoughts on any of this, or if I
made any mistakes in the grouping.)
Food & Cooking - Elizabeth Bumgarner: growing, preparation,
storing/preserving, cooking. Are the Smorgasbords or pot lucks
included in this?
Going to Meeting/First Day School - Kay Drake: what the activities are,
likes and dislikes, rocking chairs? class room dividers, pot
lucks (?)
Yearly Meeting Memories - Grayce Mesner: Attending and Hosting
Community Life and Family Life - Betty Wolf (Should these 2 be separated
and someone else work on part of it?)
Recreation (ice skating at tile pit), Entertainment (the arts?),
Travel Methods
(Family Life - if separated from above) -
School Memories -
What the Buildings Looked Like - Carol Bartles: What have been the
changes? Inside & Outside; Dividers
Weddings & Funerals - Grayce Mesner: program, cemetery
Changes - Kris Simon: plain language? music? How have we changed over the
years?
How Did We Get To Clear Creek? - Jeannie Marvin: Book that Mildred
Whitney put together
That's what I have - I welcome any corrections, changes, further
suggestions!!
Hope to see alot of you tomorrow at Business Meeting, Mtg. for Worship
and Coffee Hour - a Welcome for Kris Simon and Lori Paton into
membership.
