Program at Berkeley Friends (Vine St.) Meeting: "Roena Osting as Elizabeth Fry." Elizabeth Fry, an early 19th century English Quaker, was the first person to initiate systematic prison reform, organize the efforts, and promote them through wide travel and public speaking--a unique effort for a woman of that time. Roena presented this amazing performance at Pacific Yearly Meeting this summer. The presentation will be followed by a discussion of present day Quaker efforts in California prisons. This will be the only presentation in the Bay Area.
