An opportunity for Friends to reflect on energy security, climate and conflict
Brussels, 5-7 December 2008 In December 2008, Quaker Peace & Social Witness, and the Quaker Council for European Affairs will be jointly hosting a conference in Brussels looking at the connections between energy security, climate change and conflict.
The conference is open to individuals, Monthly Meeting representatives from across Europe and QCEA Associate and Supporting Members.
The conference is an opportunity for participants to learn about and explore a range of issues including:
- the connections between energy security, conflict and climate change;
- the connections between over-consumption of energy and conflict;
- the responses Quakers might have to these issues in the light of our testimonies;
- a spiritual grounding for this area of Quaker witness;
- the way in which advocacy at European and national level may contribute to this.
