Man speaks
to dominate another
on things he doesn't know
Speaks
to overcome an adversary
Speaks
to hide his faults
Speaks
to be deaf to
the bitter voice of conscience
Speaks
to avoid
the call of pain.
So it is that man
burying the true, the just, and the holy
under a river of words,
drowns in that river
himself and his freedom.
Much better it would be
for the world and for him
to learn the secret of silence,
and thereby receive
on the wavelength of the Spirit
a divine message of
faith, hope and charity.
