Mary Dyer Quote

Mary Dyer, hanged in Boston in 1660 for the crimes of free speech & insisting on religious freedom, was not only a pioneer Quaker. She was also a cherished wife and the mother of eight children, six of whom survived infancy. Why would she risk all in a doomed face-off against Puritan theocrats?

“Her story is an astonishing part of American history that has never been widely exposed," says Jeanmarie Simpson, who wrote “HERETIC,” an acclaimed one-woman dramatization of  Dyer's life. "Yet its relevance is more powerful today than at any time since her death."

Samantha King will Star as Mary Dyer in Simpson’s “Heretic: The Mary Dyer Story” this weekend in NC. Friday & Saturday, Sept. 13 & 14 at 7PM, at Spring Friends Meeting in Snow Camp.

On Sunday, Sept. 15, the final performance will be 3PM at Chapel Hill Friends Meeting. (Directions for both via GPS.)

Admission is by donation & reservation here. Seats are limited. Reserve your seats now.
