Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 11, 1999

After their first vigil in Philadelphia on April 4, 1999, Friends in that city have organized further vigils for peace in Yugoslavia and Kosova/Kosovo. A radio station, KYW, reported on the vigil several times that Sunday night and throughout the following day, describing the Quaker peace testimony.

"We have arranged to hold vigils again from 5 to 6:30 pm on Sunday April 11 and Sunday April 18 (if necessary), at the same location, Independence Mall, across the street from the Liberty Bell," said Marcelle Martin of Newton Square Friends Meeting.

"Many Friends have expressed an interest in holding these vigils on a continuing basis as long as there is military intervention in the Balkans."
