FRIENDS AFGHAN CONCERN

QUAKER ACTION

On this page are descriptions of Quaker individuals,  monthly meetings, and organizations that are involved with Afghanistan.

This is the Quaker Afghan activity we know about as of April 19, 2002: [To contact the organization, click on their name.]

American Friends Service Committee: they are in the process of designing a three year relief program, and at present have two staff persons working on this: Leila Richards who travels between Afghanistan and the U.S., and Hadi Azimi who lives in Kabul.  They are actively seeking support for their Afghan Relief Fund.  All profits from Os Cresson’s book are designated for this fund.

Friends Afghan Concern: we are trying to support and coordinate the efforts of Quakers and nonQuakers who are concerned about Afghanistan.

Friends Committee on National Legislation: they have a section of their website that contains documents their staff have prepared about alternatives to violence in Afghanistan.

Medford Leas Support for Afghan Children: this recently formed group of retirees is interested in establishing a relationship with a school or school district in Afghanistan.  The chair of this group is Os Cresson.
