Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting Committees

In unprogrammed Quaker meetings, there being no paid clergy, the clerk and assistant clerk are resources for general information and overseeing that meeting business is handled. Much of the work of the meeting is done in committees.

Care and Counsel - Responsible in general for the pastoral care of members and attenders. Limited to members of Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting. Meetings on the 2nd Monday evening of each month 7:30-9:00 pm.

Worship and Ministry - Responsible for the spiritual life of the meeting. Limited to members of any meeting of the R.S.O.F. Meetings on the 1st Sunday of each month at 12:30pm.

Property and House - Provides stewardship of our building and grounds. See Meetinghouse Use Guidelines for information on using our building.

Religious Education - Oversees the First Day School and community activities involving nurturing our children. Meets before meeting for worship on the first First Day of each month. We are guided by our Child Safety Policy.

Peace and Social Concerns - Cares for the corporate witness of our community. Responsible for distributing some of our endowment income to other organizations. Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and welcomes anyone with interest in current issues. The Interfaith Hospitality Network Subcommittee coordinates the hosting of homeless families at the meetinghouse.

Forum - Plans, arranges and facilitates monthly programs on issues of concern to the meeting community. Meets monthly. Needs people who have time and ability to make arrangements for speakers, etc.

Finance - Works with the treasurer to prepare annual budget and makes decisions concerning the management of meeting assets. Meets 2nd Wednesday 7:30-9pm.

Library - Coordinates and cares for the meeting library. Meets irregularly.

Hospitality - Provides the coffee hour on the first Sunday of each month. Meets irregularly or by phone.

Tuition Assistance - Evaluates requests for disbursement of financial aid to members and attenders for tuition at Quaker schools and summer camps.

Child Care - Responsible for child care during meeting for worship. Keeps list of available caretakers for use by committees providing care at other activities.

Outreach - Helps to make our Meeting more known in the community through Outreach First-days, advertisements and articles about CHFM in local newspapers, newcomers breakfasts, etc. Meets 1st Sunday 9-10:15am.

Communications - Responsible for Newsletter, Bulletins, and Website. Meets 4th Wednesdays 7-9pm.

Coordinating Committee - Mets 1st Monday 7:30-9:00PM.

Client Committee - Alternate Wednesday nights (from 9/29/2010) 7-9pm.
